No Flood Crisis In Pakistan. We're Playing Cricket With England
You said there are 33 million people affected due to floods, but you have time to host the England cricket team and boast of providing them with 'presidential security'?
For the cricket matches, roads were closed, shops facing the cricket ground faced restrictions, armed security guards for England players, sniper teams and a helicopter are provided even more security. At what cost?
Cricketers or flood victims?
On YouTube, I am bombarded with adverts asking me to donate to flood victims in Pakistan. Harrowing pictures of Abdallah, Zainab or Muhammad living by the roadside having lost everything. I am invited to do a good deed and help my ummah. Alhamdulillah.
Then later on, I'm listening to the news and at the end, the sports news mentions the latest cricket score as England play Pakistan in Karachi or elsewhere.
The man from the Pakistan cricket board (PCB) was on the radio explaining the level of 'presidential security' given to the England team - after the attacks on the Sri Lanka team years ago.
All today’s efforts should be in saving the lives and helping those made destitute by the floods. However, we now have a climate in Muslim countries where the international sports circus must go on. We’ve embraced the Western entertainment model.
Life is about being entertained. Deception of dunya
Cricket matches, the upcoming Qatar world cup and all sorts of other global sports events have to go on. They occupy the time of the youth and suck up resources, money and attention.
After the monumental floods in Pakistan, I hate hearing about England’s cricket team touring and being given such treatment. People in the flood affected areas cannot dream of a fraction of the 5-star treatment cricket players got.
And most of us are happy to go along with this state of affairs - as long as we are entertained. Life has become about being entertained.
To say it makes me angry is an understatement. We need Islam to reset our priorities and the priorities in Muslim societies.

Simon Jenkins does a good summary of the financial disaster UK Prime Minister (Liz Truss) and Finance minister (Kwasi Kwarteng) recently inflicted on the country after their mini budget.
This has caused the pound to drop to its lowest level in years and forced the Bank of England to create £65billion (out of thin air) in order to try to save the situation.
