NASA landed a rover on Mars for what purpose?

So NASA has landed the rover Perseverance on Mars to 'look for signs of life'? OK, so humans are naturally curious, but finding 'signs of life' would mean what exactly for people in the West?

We see life all around us everyday and when we ponder the complexity, beauty and organisation of what we see, we conclude it has not occurred by accident and that the Creator must have a purpose for us and guidance for how we live. That is the conclusion of a rational person. That is the conclusion that leads us to Islam.

In the West, because secularism is such a strongly embedded dogma, whether you believe in a Creator or not that should have no connection to how life is run. Hence the observation of amazing natural phenomena (in an amazing David Attenborough documentary) remains just that, an amazing phenomena. Even if you believe it is all down to a Creator, fine. It must not be taken to its logical conclusion that there is a Supreme Organiser we should seek guidance from.

PS: I actually love the technology involved in preparing a rover, flying it at the speed of a bullet, slowing it down and landing it on a foreign planet.
