Imran Khan, Erdogan and King Salman refused to fast
Ramadhan is a time the Muslim ummah strongly identifies as one. We all pray, fast and make dua to Allah (swt) - motivated by the same Qur’an and the Sunnah.
It is also a time when the situation of the less fortunate Muslims is highlighted: China’s oppression in East Turkistan, zionists bombing Palestine, killing of Muslims in Yemen, Syria, Kashmir and elsewhere.
They refused to fast
Rulers of Muslim countries and their representatives gathered in Makkah this past week in the last few days of Ramadan. However, they refused to fast.
Erdogan has welcomed Putin to Ankara. Russian planes have killed so many Muslims in Syria where this has been a blood soaked Ramadan. His relationship with the zionist occupiers of Palestine continues and the U.S. uses Incirlik air base to bomb Muslims in Syria.
Imran Khan throws the Muslims of East Turkistan under China’s bus. He famously said 'China is a breath of fresh air' - despite it’s detention and oppression of over a million in concentration camps - and preventing them from fasting in Ramadhan.
King Salman's dance and support of the U.S. is well known as Saudi money and arms purchases continue to fuel the U.S. government’s many anti-Islam policies.
Fasting from disobedience
Whoever does not give up false speech and evil deeds while fasting, then Allah is not in need of his leaving food and drink. [Bukhari]
So I am not talking about whether these rulers fasted from food. I’m talking about their refusal to fast from disobeying Allah (swt). What we see is they proudly refuse to fast from disobedience to Allah (swt) by allying with those who are killing Muslims.
Allah (swt) forbade us from befriending those who fight and expel us - or their helpers.
Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers. [Sura Mumtahana 60:9]
Even in these days of Ramadan where we are reminded to follow the Qur’an’s orders in every matter, some of us make excuses for these leaders support for those who are bombing, killing and oppressing the ummah.
Are they our people?
Is it OK if Muslims in Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, or elsewhere are bombed by the zionist entity, or Russia, or the U.S. as long as I am not Pakistani, Syrian, Yemeni? That is nationalism.
Erdogan acts as a Turkish nationalist. Imran Khan as a Pakistani nationalist and King Salman as a Saudi nationalist. In this month or Ramadhan, we should hold them to the Islamic standard. Or have we become tolerant of nationalists provided they utter some Islamic phrases and meet in Makkah?
We are Muslims, the ummah of Muhammad (alayhi salam) and we must reject nationalism which is haram an only leads to our division and exploitation by our enemies.
Nothing will bring us success and victory in this world and the pleasure of Allah (swt) except when we accept that which he loves and leave nationalism, secularism and other isms that contradict the guidance that Allah The All Knowing sent from the heavens.
May Allah save us from these rulers and their forked tongues.
May Allah (swt) bless this ummah soon with a sincere ruler, a Khalifah, who rules by the Qur’an and sunnah and sees Muslims as one ummah and looks after us rather than supporting our enemies. Ameen.
What we lack is the shield that RasulAllah صلى الله عليه وسلم prescribed for us to use in order to protect ourselves. This shield is described in the following hadith:
“Indeed, the Imam (Khaleefah) is a shield, from behind whom you fight and by whom you are protected.” [Muslim]
