Death of Dr Morsi

When I saw the news that Dr Muhammad Morsi died today during his trial, I suddenly realised it’s been 6 years since he was overthrown and imprisoned. That long?

He has returned to His Lord (swt). May Allah grant sabrun jameel to his family and loved ones in these times. May Allah forgive him. May Allah grant him Jannah. Inna lillahii wa inn ilayhi rajioon   (indeed from Allah we come and to Allah we return)

Egypt today

We remember Dr Morsi and can picture his face, just as we remember the face of the nine young men executed a few months ago in February 2019 - on false confessions extracted by torture. I remember the video of them speaking in court. When one was told that he made a confession therefore he was guilty, he replied that the false confession was because the amount of electricity they used to electrocute him was enough to power Egypt for 20 years. May Allah have mercy on them all.

E.U.’s dance with Sisi

Days after Sisi executed these men, Europe’s heads of states arrived to enjoy the hospitality of President SIsi in the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh at the inaugural summit of the European Union and the Arab League. Donald Tusk, president of the European council was co-chair with Abdel Fatah al-Sisi; and Britain’s Theresa May and other E.U leaders were his guests.

In the past, Barack Obama and Tony Blair were hosted by Hosni Mubarak while he killed and tortured the people so nothing has changed in the West’s support for whoever is the Pharaoh in Cairo.

Abdel Fatah al-Sisi

Some cheered Sisi after the removal of Dr Morsi believing his claims of ushering in a new Egypt. What they got was more of the same Mubarak era style rule: a bankrupt economy, more arrests and torture and a western backed tyrant - who was worse than Mubarak in many regards.

Allah gives respite to oppressors for a short time

The story of Musa and Pharaoh in the Qur’an is full of many lessons for us. One of them is that nothing lasts forever. Pharaoh arrogantly said فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ “I am your Lord most High” [An-Naziat 79:24]. Today, where is that arrogant one? Destroyed, swallowed by the ocean as a sign of the Power and the Might of Allah (swt) when He aids the believers. Musa was victorious over Pharaoh - by the Help of Allah (swt). Soon, insha’Allah, the believers will be victorious over Sisi and today’s Pharoahs.

Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah (alayhi salam) said, “Verily, Allah Almighty will give respite to the wrongdoer until he seizes him and he cannot escape.” Then the Prophet recited the verse, “Such is the seizure of your Lord, when he takes hold of the cities while they are doing wrong. Verily, his seizure is agonizing and severe.” (Hud 11:102) [Bukhari & Muslim]

Ummah’s struggle continues

How many have the tyrants killed? How many scholars has Al-Saud jailed? How many are in their jails and dungeons from Morocco in the West to Pakistan in the East? How many western governments back these tyrants whose feet are upon our ummah’s neck?

No matter the strength of their backers, their cruelty and their brutality, we Muslims must remember that we have a more powerful helper - Allah, Al Qawi, Al Azeez, Al Muntaqim (The All Powerful, the All Mighty, the Avenger who breaks the back of the arrogant). We must continue to work to mobilise the ummah to struggle for the re-establishment of the shariah of Allah (swt) by re-establishing the Islamic Khilafah state.

A system that will establish justice between all in society, where no one is above the law and where the citizens live in safety not fear of a tyrant ruler who kills their sons and imprisons their daughters. Where wealth is distributed according to the shariah rules so poverty is eradicated, and the weak are looked after.

This is what was established when Egypt became part of the Islamic khilafah in the time of Amr Ibn Al-As (radi Allahu anhu) and this will again be the case soon, insha’Allah. Our role is to continue to struggle and call the ummah to that Islamic change.

So Sisi and all the tyrants in the Musim world will have their time for a while till this ummah overturns their thrones - by the help of Allah (swt).
