This dentist saved my life?

29th May 2022

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

My jaw was wide open and I was straining against the pull. He pulled this way and pulled that way. Finally, he pulled out my wisdom tooth and showed it to me.

Its roots were bloody. I was so relieved it was all over. Alhamdulillah.

I was referred to this dental practice by my local dentist nearly a year ago and it was only now that I finally got called for an appointment to extract my wisdom tooth.

That tooth gave me pain now and then and my local dentist had advised that I should get it removed.

So, some hours ago, I was in the dentist’s chair at this specialist dental practice. He gave me the first local anaesthetic, but my jaw wasn’t very numb. So, he gave me some more anaesthetic.

I dread dental treatment and it is one of the times I remember Allah (swt) the most. So, waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect, I’m making duas and remember this Prophetic dua we are advised to make when we are anxious about something.

اللّهُمَّ لا سَهْلَ إِلاّ ما جَعَلتَهُ سَهلاً، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً

“O Allah, there is no ease other than what You make easy. If You please You ease sorrow.” [Ibn Hibban]

Immigrants saving the British

Alhamdulillah, the procedure went well and the dentist got the tooth out. He was very professional, helpful and re-assuring. He is from Nigeria. I could tell from the name, so we discussed Nigeria a bit.

The other two dentists at this dental practice have Arab sounding names. So many ‘immigrants’ treating and saving the British 😊.

So many immigrant doctors, nurses, consultants … work in the UK health service and without them, parts of the health service would collapse. Yet, because of nationalism and racism in the UK, some here hate immigrants and conveniently blame them for various societal problems!

Eating is taken for granted
So my mouth is sore but getting better. Alhamdulillah. I’ve been having soups and long for particular chewy food which I can’t have for a while.

It has suddenly made me realise how I have taken something as simple as chewing for granted. Having health really is a blessing from Allah (swt).

May Allah (swt) enable us to look after our health and grant us a cure and healing for any illnesses we may have.

So, this week is a shorter newsletter without my other usual sections.

Please make dua that my extraction heals well. Catch you next week, inshaAllah.

Please share the newsletter. Thanks.

Love and salams,

Taji
